SEAN HARRISON

WRITER/DIRECTOR

Cameron Lawry has been involved in theatre since the age of six. He has achieved International Diploma from Trinity Guildhall College of London in performance and is currently completing his Honours Degree in Motion Pictures majoring in directing at AFDA. He stood as Vice Chairmen of Protea Stage Productions for two years until he moved to Cape Town where he now sits on the board and writes for SANCTA (South African National Community Theatre Association). 

​

He has been involved in more than twenty theatre productions, both in front and behind the scenes.  Winning many nominations and awards as well as Best Director, Best Production and Best Actor. His love for storytelling inspired him to study screenwriting and directing. Coming from a musical background he wanted to tell a story through music and so “Sukuma the musical” was born the first all-original musical ADFA had seen, boasting a 60 piece orchestra.

 Cameron has made seven short films while being at AFDA, “#Rise”, “Woman’s Worlds”, ''Fix”, `` Choices”, ''Sukuma” “All My Love” and “Confessions” which will premiere at the end of November 2019 at the Labia Theatre.

He currently teaches Drama and Performance Art for Stage Door Drama School as well as Sunlight Music Studios. As a playwright, he has written over five full-length productions including four pantomimes, “Aladdin and His Magic Lantern”, “Jack and the Beanstalk”, “Robinson Crusoe” and “Pinocchio Meets Audrey 2” and a musical “What lies beyond the Black Daisy”. He has also written and directed, a twelve-episode radio drama, namely “24 Armstrong Avenue” which was aired in 2015, as well as two, one-act plays. He has directed two pantomimes “Aladdin and His Magic Lantern” and “Jack and the Beanstalk” and a one-act play, “Crocodile Tears”.

TAMMY YOUNG

PRODUCER

Comfort Ajibola was born in Nigeria and grew up mostly in Namibia. She completed her BA in English at the Namibia University of Science and Technology in 2016. She has always had a passion for filmmaking and storytelling, having directed several stage plays and produced short films along with other film fanatics and friends. She is currently completing a BA Hons in Film producing at AFDA, in Cape Town. .

EDITOR

Chelsea Art was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa. Her early love for art, film, and photography inspired her to get a degree in motion picture. In 2018, she completed her BA degree at AFDA Cape Town majoring in directing and screenwriting. She then continued with her honour’s degree in 2019, majoring in editing.

​

She has directed, written and edited several student short films as well as a few independent shorts. She has also been involved in several film competitions. Throughout her years of studying she has gained a variety of experience within the Cape Town Film industry. She has assisted on several short films, feature films, fashion films, music videos and commercials in production and post-production. She continues to explore her love for people and stories while absorbing all the knowledge she can.

PRODUCTION DESIGNER

Elizma de Villiers is a hardworking woman who takes pride in her craft and likes to push the limits of what she can do. Her goal is to become an art director for films and music videos one day. She also likes to design mood and character boards in her spare time. She is very enthusiastic about her work, therefore, she’ll give more than 100% for everything. She works hard and thoroughly, individually and in teams. She’s a good leader and can delegate when needed.

She is straightforward and an independent woman who is determined and knows what she wants. She strives to always do her best, no matter the challenge, and is always up for learning and improving herself.  You’ll always find Elizma working on something, and even when she’s not working, she’s still working!

DANIEL BECK

PRODUCER

Vanessa Coetzer has always wanted to be part of the film industry from a young age. She is a vibrant and open individual and loves to work with people. She is currently finishing her honours degree in motion picture medium and strives to work under the role of a producer. She always steps into a project with an open mind and is hardworking when bringing the vision of a project together.

 

Motion Picture has always been her greatest passion because it allows her to be part of something that tells a story and brings people together. It is her goal to work to the best of her ability and she is always open to learning new things. Her future goal is to help build motion picture medium within South Africa, and in the long term, she hopes to start an independent film company.

EDWARD LAWSON

DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY

Alexandre Ortscheit was born in France and raised in Cape Town. He completed his BA in motion picture and medium at AFDA Cape Town in 2017 with a major in cinematography.

 

He has been working in the Cape Town Film industry within the camera and lighting department ever since, maintaining a balance between camera assistant work and his own growth as an aspiring cinematographer on smaller-scale projects.

 

His DOP work currently includes various fashion films, music videos, and short films.

COSTUME AND STYLIST

Nastien Visser is an honours student who studies Costume, Make-Up & Styling. She is a full-time student at AFDA and has worked on 21 sets in total in her 4 years of studying as well as a music video for an AFDA music student. Outside of AFDA she was an extra on the tv-series, Die Boekklub 2 (Louis Pretorius, 2017). Nastien also assisted on a film called Darling, You’re Mine (Vilde Eide, 2016) who won best costume, make-up and styling in 2016 and the film went on to screen at the Cannes film festival in 2017.

 

Nastien is hard-working, friendly, creative, and always helps out where she can. She likes to learn about new things and possibilities and likes helpful critique so that she can improve herself and her work. Nastien is always on time and a very comfortable person. She works thoroughly, likes to experiment and explore in her department, and is reliable. She knows how to work in a group and by herself. Nastien is also trustworthy, punctual and honest.

For the future, Nastien would like to go more into the wardrobe and styling business and music video shoots but will initially like to be on film and tv-series sets as well.
